Very good and very fast. The spicy habanero paste on the side is on point.

If I had one word for "Curry In A Hurry" it would be consistency. I've been eating here occasionally for 15 years or so and it's exactly the same as it's always been. Chicken curry, spinach and potatoes are my go to. It's cheap, lots of food, easily accessible flavors for people who are new to Indian/Pakistani food. Delicious. My only complaint is the "flat bread" they use is store bought pita bread. Not worth the calories unless you are really hungry. For a truly unique experience check out their sister restaurant Curry Fried Chicken... it's amazing.

So, let's get this straight: We call in an order, server is very rude. When we go to pick it up, it's not ready for pick up at all - they never bothered to prepare it at all. Some kids try and pick a fight on the property, nothing is done. Food is okay, but the help and the area is apparently going downhill. This is just the latest in the problems that have occurred in and around the place; we used to really like going here! But this is probably the las time we'll give them any patronage.

I just got off a flight landing in SLC and needed food. So I drive into downtown- get lost - then suddenly see Curry In A Hurry. I wasn't craving curry, but after seeing the clever name I had to stop an check it out! This is a small place. The food was generous in portions- I ordered the chicken curry with rice plate- but was disappointed that the rice was cold! How can you serve lukewarm rice? But the curry was good. And I was in a hurry. If I see a restaurant called "Mole in a Slow Day" I will report back also.

Their name says it all. It's a casual little spot where you can get a small selection of Indian curry very quickly. I've tried the chicken and lamb curries and both were decent. I'm not sure if it was very fresh since we came near closing time... and our order came out minutes after ordering. Avoid their strawberry syrup drink. It was overly sweet and tasted extremely artificial.

True to its name, Curry in a Hurry is quite the speed demon. Curry in under 2-3 minutes and plentiful portions. Two curries, with a veg side, rice and naan for around $10. I ordered chicken curry, lamb korma, and the chickpea curry side. The highlight was the chickpea curry side. I enjoyed the unique/exotic spices and flavors. The other curries were decent, but nothing to write home about. Overall, loved that they were fine with me coming in 20 minutes before closing, and that my belly was full after not eating all day and having just finished Zumba.

This place definitely lives up to its name! The employee had our orders ready before the owner rang us up. They offer chicken, lamb or vegetable entrees with coconut or tandoori sauces with rice, flat bread and veggies. Great variety of drinks. Good sized portions and inexpensive combos! The restaurant is tiny--two tables for four and two bars for four. Funky Bollywood videos on tv are quite entertaining. It was the owner's birthday so he gave us free carrot cake! They usually have rice pudding for dessert. No chocolate.

It's a cute little spot on the corner of 21s and state street. They've got parking in the back. Inside only seats about 15 people. It can be a little cramped but it's worth it. I always get the famous chicken tikka #2. Their garlic nann is amazing! Great place for a quick lunch or dinner

Curry in a Hurry is a small restaurant and is good for a quick lunch or dinner. The service isn't exactly great (are all the people who work there in a bad mood all the time??). Also, there is a constant and loud flow of bad music videos emanating from the TVs, so I will usually get my order to go. However, the food is really, really good! I always order the chicken curry combo. The chicken is tender and the curry is delicious. The flavor is not overbearing, but strong enough to make my mouth water. Prior to trying Curry in a Hurry, I was not a fan of curry. This recipe changed that!

I really like this place! If your Into the Halal /kosher ish clean meat this is the place for you. I really like their food, and it has a nice kick to it. Don't go there expecting traditional friend chicken then come back to Yelp and cry about it. It's good food, you just have to have no expectations the first time you try it. Theeen you'll be hooked! Good, and clean place. Also, don't be expecting fast food service people. These are local places that make good fresh mostly. So your food is gonna take a minute just like it took yo mama or daddy a minute to make your food. Real and freshly made food takes some time to make and prepare. Enjoy!

Call me crazy but I love this place. Hard day at work? Difficult day at school? The chicken curry definitely became my comfort food. Its so flavorful and super quick to just grab and go I have yet to find anything that tastes like it. I always get it to go, I never eat there, its just too small of a place

  • Brett K.

Considering that the food is made in large batches and then sits in a heat bath until someone orders it, Curry in a Hurry is not that bad. Curries were flavorful, but the samosas were dried out and bland. Heat lamps and pre-prep knock this place down by at least two stars. But that's why it's "In A Hurry," I guess.

This place is exactly how it's named. I was abut confused by the Indian paskitani blend and how this is possible but it made sense. Ordered a chicken curry and a lamb curry. The chicken curry was delicious. The lamb curry though was not as exciting though. The lussi were bland in taste but were refreshing. Good place to eat in a hurry.

Very unassuming exterior, small place tucked away next to a few other businesses. This place is not ideally suited for any groups larger than 5, I bet most people just get it to go during busier times. Food did not look particularly appetizing, but tasted alright. It was hardly anything special, but it certainly wasn't bad by any means. All of the dishes (curry chicken/spinach dish) were kind of watery. The service and ambience were similarly average. This place is the true definition of a 3-star location. Sorry this review wasn't more exciting. The end.

This place is decent. Every time I've gone, I've gotten the chicken curry and the spinach. It does the trick. It by no means whisks my taste buds off to India, but I've certainly had worse. I see a lot of griping about the lack of enthusiasm mustered upon entering...to that I say-get over it. You're not the center of the universe. Slinging pre-made Indian food to the entitled masses probly ain't all it's cracked up to be. It's kind of spendy considering I can get more 'quality' dishes for about 5 bucks more (enough for 2), but it's called curry in a HURRY for a reason. Convenience always has a price. Also, any business that has pictures of Ice Cube by the register is ok in my book.

I used to love this place and ate there multiple times a week. The last time I went (and it will certainly be the last) the service was awful and unfriendly, the portion size was nearly half of what it used to be. It's rice - you can afford to give more than a small cup! It wasn't just my plate either - it was everyone. And if you pay cash check your change. He never gives you back full change. I wouldn't mind as its only a few cents but it bothers me that they think they are entitled to it!

Here's why i gave this place two stars. The guy taking our order was a total douche bag. Am i allowed to say that here? We'll find out i guess. He was so arrogantly rude. I asked a question like, "whats the difference between the plate and the combo?" and he gave the most snarky responses. While trying to order he was so busy checking out some tail outside i'm surprised he heard us at all. He would laugh under his breath about god knows what and overall gave us all this attitude like he really didn't have time for us and clearly didn't give a crap about his job. Which has to make you wonder what exactly goes on with the food you're about to eat behind the scenes. Honestly i don't normally rate a place based on one bad experience with staff but this was just over the top. I would give the food a three to four star. It was pretty good the portions were decent. The naan was just pita bread that a woman was heating up on the stove. I watched her pull it from a bag but hey i like pita and it served its purpose. I would be willing to try this place again but i'm not rushing out the door for it.

Went on a Sunday afternoon... super random, I know. Went there with 2 other friends, the place was open, clean and empty. We ordered our plates and had our meals in less than 5 minutes. They have their curries already made, and were kept there just warming up. I didn't really have a problem with that. The food was great, got the veggie samosa, and then one of the curries with chicken. Everything was good. Maybe a bit oily at times, but not bad. I mean. It's way cheap and way fast. I'm okay with the compromise.

I LOVE LAMB! And now I love CURRY IN A HURRY... Nice and just the right spice for me. If only it had a lil extra sauce so I could eat the plate too! Smh. Would recommend to my fellow carnivores and spice seekers! Lol Curry Lamb with curry potatoes.

  • R S.

The food is served up quickly (given that most of it is already prepared). The flavor is decent but over time, this place has lost its appeal. It used to be a good spot for middle of the road curry at a fair price. I don't mind that the owner is seemingly always in a bad mood, but that coupled with cost verses value-I feel like I'm over paying for the food quantity and quality that I'm being given. I don't say this lightly as I'm a big supporter of local businesses.

I love this restaurant for a few reasons. For one, you order at the counter, cutting out the waiter/waitress formal sit down dinner part. Secondly, their curry dishes are delicious and spicy spicy! Definitely a good place to go when you are at the end stage of a cold and need to evacuate your sinuses. Thirdly, the okra. It speaks for itself. The owners are lovely people and the food is reasonably priced. Also a great place to go if you are trying to feed a vegetarian and a carnivore at the same time. Go get ya' some!!!

  • Benji B.

I decided to try this place because I have driven by so much. I ordered the lamb curry and curry potatoes. The food was pretty descent considering it's all pre made however the service was awful. The guy working there acted dismissive and rude. I will give it another try but it's not a priority.

I could write an in-depth review about this seeming hole in the wall. Or you could trust that it's delicious, pretty cheap and you will want to come back tomorrow. Just like everybody else. Nothing fancy, limited menu, virtually no seating. But come eat here anyway.

I ended up at Curry in a Hurry tonight on a whim. I was running late for a movie but needed dinner quickly and the name said it all, right? The chicken curry with basmati rice was ready in just a few minutes and it was HEAVEN. The chicken was perfect (no weird chicken here) and the curry sauce was gluten-free (if you're interested). My only complaint is that it was a little pricy- $9 for a quick meal. I will definitely be going back!

I love Curry In A Hurry! Their curries are so delicious and are by far the most affordable in Salt Lake. I love how friendly the staff is, and as a vegan, I lover their wide variety of veggie curries. Support this local business!

It is what it says it is. Your not paying gourmet prices. But you are getting really good curry, they serve you fast and are very polite people. They are what they say they are curry in a hurry. Good little place

  • Kanika S.

    - not a friendly place - the okra curry was disaster (I felt like leaving the food right after having the first bite) - the chicken curry, oh my god, the only good thing about that was the color. Not recommended, unless you don't care for taste.

My go to curry place in SLC! Authentic, spicy, and quick! They also offer amazing cooking classes which are awesome!!

  • Alyssa T.

Yellow Chicken Curry plate. Just trust me, it's delicious. The value is great and the food is consistently amazing. I would get it to go as the restaurant is really small and not amazing, but you go there for the food, not the ambiance. Pick this up and a bottle of wine and have it at home!

  • Steve S.

Ordered the chicken curry combo plate with curry potatoes to go. Added additional curry powder at he counter before bagging which made it seasoned just right. Curry was on top and once I got home realized more rice than curry. The boneless chicken, curry and curry potatoes was excellent but needed more curry sauce. If I would have eaten at the establishment I would have requested more curry sauce. Other than that it was great but prevents a higher star rating. Don't be stingy with the curry sauce!

I made a last minute decision to stop by & I wasn't disappointed. Everything was really good and hot. I enjoyed the lamb curry over rice. Maybe a bit steep for the price, but not outrageous.

I knew this place would be good because I am already a fan of Curry Fried Chicken. But Curry in a Hurry blew it's competitor Masala Indian Grill out of the water. Great flavor, well seasoned (it's competitor's food was too salty), relatively nice facilities (the place is small but the walls have stone wainscoting and the bathroom is beautiful. My only complaint is that, as others have said, it's pricey for walk-up Indian food. My veggie combo meal was $10, and had great sized portions, but I can get a limitless and wide-variety buffet meal at Himalayan Kitchen for $11. Regardless, I am a fan of Curry in a Hurry because the food is good and I will surely be back.

Went here for lunch, hadn't been here in probably a decade. Last time I came here everything was amazing. Quite the opposite this time. Not only was the food horrible but the service was also crap. There are too many great places to eat in Salt Lake City. Don't waste your time with this one.

  • Greg N.

Have been here a few times. Golden curry sauce is good, but skimpy on the chicken. Spinach & potatoes side wasn't even warm. Not the friendliest service - so good for take out if you can go pop it in the microwave. Also, combo plates are a bit overpriced. Food is consistent but nothing special.

  • Haley B.

You guys, I hate Curry in a Hurry. It's impossible to get out of here for under $10. Nothing is fresh, the naan is a joke, and I guess I'm just not sure sure why you would come here when for just four or five dollars more, you could get Indian food that is genuinely good almost anywhere else. If you truly are "in a hurry," most Indian restaurants have take out service and it would be just as fast to stop by one of those fine establishments. I work sort of nearby here, and so I stopped by several times until I resigned myself to the fact that I would NEVER have a satisfactory meal from this restaurant. I wanted to love it. The name is so cute and clever and they claim to be inexpensive. Here's the deal: food that is bad, no matter how cheap, is always overpriced.

  • Ginger S.

I don't have a bad word to say about this place. I've been several times. It's delicious curry....in a hurry! You walk in, order, and it's immediately dished up right in front of you. I'm sensitive to spicy foods and always appreciate when servers/chefs don't roll their eyes when I request something mild. The woman at the counter was very sweet and helped me choose something delicious that wouldn't set my mouth afire. I've only gotten takeout but there is a small seating area. Only complaint: I have to drive to SLC to get it. ;-)

Just ordered curry and two bottled of water and guess what, one of the bottles was already open and looks like somebody had a sip out of it. It is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. I would never order food from this place again!!!

So nice. We came in pretty late and they still made us feel at home. And even gave us extra food! The curry was also delicious.

Nice little spot. Had the vegtable samosas... yummy. Had the flat bread with their 3 sauces.. mango chutney- super yummy, mango pickled .. um sauce thing ( oh- to pickly.. lol) and a habanero sauce - HOT HOT HOT. Only giving 3 stars because I wanted to try the tandoori chicken and I would have needed to wait 45 minutes. Will try them again

  • Michelle R.

Yuck. I ate at this place for the first time the other day and I was not impressed. I got it to go. I took my dish back to work and ewww. I ordered the chicken tiki masala and yuck! I felt like I was eating chicken that had been sitting in spaghetti sauce all day. The naan was basically a small piece of soggy bread. NOT impressed!

    (1)
  • Ambre P.

Absolutely delicious. One of our favorite take out restaurants. Great service always and we have always been satisfied with our food. Sometimes it's spicier than other but if you ask for mild, it won't be that hot. This place is awesome.

It's pretty good. The nan is not nan. Chicken curry is ok. Family that owns it is pretty nice. I have found plenty of other Indian places that are better and less expensive. Try the Copper Bowl lunch buffet downtown.

What else can you say about Curry in a Hurry that the name doesn't say for itself. It's great curry, and you can get it and get out! Great option for a quick lunch or even a quick place to grab a dinner on the run. I have been a regular at Curry in a Hurry for a while now. However last night I had a great experience, and I wanted to mention it with my review. I have changed up my dining activities, and leaned my diet down. We all know with that comes a huge lack in eating some of the things we really want to eat, and you certainly don't get to eat it all! So I was out and about when the urge for Curry hit. I was driving by Curry in a Hurry, and said, "Just keep driving, go home cook dinner, and avoid the temptation." Well my stomach and itch for a great serving of curry took over, nest thing I knew I was making a U-turn and headed straight for Curry in a Hurry. I pulled in and told myself, "ok just get some and avoid the potatoes, and bread and you'll be fine." I promise this is all inner monologue and there were no responses, at least that I remember. Then again maybe that's why the people outside were looking at me funny! So I go in and approach the counter. I was greeted by the gentleman. I asked him if I could just have a side of the chicken curry, and a small scoop of rice. He said well you can get the chicken plate and it comes with a side and bread. I explained my situation, and he was more than happy to oblige. So I got outta there with a side of chicken curry and less than a cup of rice. To sum things up here, Curry in a Hurry has a great menu, a great product, and at great prices! Not to mention they're willing to go out of their way to help a customer! You will not be disappointed with this little gem! Please take my advise and give it a shot! P.S. While there if you see a guy talking to himself with a side of curry walking out the door make sure he has Yelp sunglasses on and say hi, it'll be me!

  • Danny W.

The name says it all. If you need a quick lunch or grab a quick dinner on the run stop by here. It might not be for everyone and they might seem a little put off when you come in but it's grab and go food. And it's probably the best grab and go in Salt Lake.

  • Jake G.

Great place for hearty portions of really tasty, basic South Asian food. Don't go expecting Bombay House. This is essentially Indian fast food, everything has a sort of mass-produced feel, but for what you're paying its still very good. Indian food on a budget. The owners, who are often the ones serving you, and super friendly and like to chat.

    (5)
  • Emily B.

Had the okra and spinach and potatoes for lunch and man was it tasty! This place is fast, filling and fantastic! Whenever I crave some fast curry, this is the place I'm hitting up. They have tons of vegetarian options at reasonable prices.

My plate of chicken curry was $8.62 including tax. Easily under $10. 9" plate was completely covered/filled with rice (perfectly cooked) and chicken curry and a piece of nan bread. Plenty of food. Portion size was ideal. The chicken curry had a lot of chicken in it. It was a good balance of sauce and chicken. The sauce had a nice balance of sweet (coconut milk) and hot. Staff were friendly.

I must admit I was skeptical of this place at first, but having driven by so many times the catchy name stuck in my head. So tonight when I was craving Indian I realized I hadn't eaten a thing all day. I knew I had less than an hour to grab something and get to class, took a peek at a few fellow yelper reviews, and without a look back pointed my mustang toward Curry in a Hurry. I walked in and a friendly Pakistani gentleman greeted me immediately with a smile. It took only a minute for me to peruse the menu before deciding on the #1 combo: lamb korma curry combo with rice, naan, and veg. I chose the daily okra. The gentleman rang me up, I paid, and was out the door with my dinner in less than 5 minutes. Fabulous friendly service. With tip I spent $12 total. Sure the decor leaves something to be desired when it comes to American standards. Anywhere else it would be busy as all heck. And after tasting the food... WOW! Super tasty lamb and the rice was perfect. Okra was not overly slimy and was cooked with onion. I would not get the naan again however, as it was essentially a store bought pita. I'd rather spend my carbs on rice and curry! Besides, I'm a sucker for garlic naan and it didn't appear to be on their menu. Anyways I'll definitely be back for curry to go! Gotta make more of my classmates super jealous, right?

  • Erica D.

The curry chicken, rice, and naan is the best pick up and go home meal in SLC, and quite possibly any where. I'm not a fan of Indian food in general, and haven't tried any thing else CIAH offers largely due to the curry chicken and rice being unbeatable. I just can't imagine any thing else they serve tastes better. Just go for the curry chicken, rice, and naan to go. You won't be sorry. On a final note, I want to recommend CIAH to busy parents leaving work thinking about what to feed the kids... It's different and tasty, and I was always excited when my dad brought it home. I think younger kids would like it as well - just stick to the less exotic stuff.

Great curry with sides at a fair price. They are halal and have vegan options. The place is a little small, so I usually get mine to go. Order ahead and it's ready for you.

  • Tera C.

Special place for me. I went often when I lived in SLC, so the few times I go now that I'm farther north, I just appreciate the hell out of it. It is quick, tasty, and even if the service is quite serious, I don't mind. There are certain things you learn not to expect from places that prepare their food in bulk in order to serve the masses quickly. If you don't go in expecting made-to-order curry, it is hard to be disappointed. That being said, the curry is indeed delicious.

  • Ray P.

Price definitely doesn't match portion. If you like greasy food, you're in for a treat, cause the food is super greasy, AND served with Greek pita bread!!!

  • Jenn B.

Stopped here for a quick bite to tide us over. I went with the veggie wrap since I just wanted something small. This was a flatbread with rice and 2 veggie choices (I got the spinach/potato and channa) It was a nice little snack but nothing to "rave" about. The flatread was premade wich was fine in this instance however if I was going to have a "meal" I would have been sad that the naan wasnt made to order. The seasoning seemed quite bland but given that it was a "Food to Go" type place and not made to order I guess they felt it is better to be safe with the spices. Like I said it was fine for a quick bite but I wouldn't eat here for a meal or if you wanted to eat very flavorful indian food.

  • Roger M.

Those writing reviews about the fact that the naan isn't fresh or the rice isn't "basmati" enough for them, must forget that they went to Curry in a Hurry and not Bombay House. For good food in a short amount of time it is exactly what their name says it is. I think the food is great, quick Indian food...a meal that I am usually able to spread across dinner and lunch the following day. While you get plenty of food, I do think they are a little pricey for walk-up food. Plan on roughly $10 for a combo meal alone. More if you want a drink or extras.

I enjoy the curry and will eat lunch here when I can. The price increases have kept me away lately though. Otherwise, great curry!

Convenient location. Small place, limited seating. You can sit outside if it is warm enough, but you're right next to a busy road. The food is hot, brown and tasty - nothing fancy, but it tastes good.

Almost every time I have driven on state street for the past gazillion years and pass Curry in a Hurry, I think, "I'm in a hurry--I should curry!", but I never do! Finally the timing was right, and I was driving past it with the fam headed to a park. We were thinking about picking up a sandwich and having a little picnic and I saw the place and I yelled, "CURRY IN A HURRY!" After terrifying my children and Hus, we took a quick right and pulled in. The place is that adorable-dive atmosphere that will turn a customer into a regular. I talked to the owner and she told me they had been there for 13 years, and they have been serving quick Indian and Pakistani food on the fly ever since they opened. It's a cool place to get food if you are sick of the 5 dollar foot-longs (you just thought of that song--didn't you?) and the same old same old. Now this food is quick and good, not the best Indian food I have ever had but still really satisfying. We tried the lamb curry (tomato based sauce kinda spicy--which I love!) , the chicken curry (creamy coconut tomato-y sauce, sweet and really good!), spinach and potato curry (my least fave of the four --a little bit boring) and the chickpeas in a sweet sauce (think pumpkin pie made with chickpeas, which I know sounds horrible but was really really fantastic!). I'm giving Curry in a Hurry 4 stars for knowing exactly who they are. The prices are great, the service was pleasant and efficient, the curry was in a hurry but still delivered on flave. I am putting it in my "Go there again!" file.

I'm really really mixed about this place. Very clearly, I was an inconvenience to them, perhaps interrupting them from their very exacting task of stirring a gigantic cauldron of tannish curry with a boat oar. The actual curry I got (I'm pretty sure it was the same type that they were busily paddling) was ok, but nothing great. I actually preferred the taste of the rice without it and used the sauce mostly as an accent. The piece of tandoori chicken I got with it, however, was very good, even bordering on great. I've tried, unsuccessfully, to recreate it, even with the help of an Indian gentleman I know who knows the owners of this and I can't quite hit the magic. The Tandoori chicken was probably 4 stars, the somewhat atrocious service was 2 stars and the pricing was more or less average, so we'll split the difference and call this one 3 stars. I may or may not go there again, if I can figure out a time when I can look at the menu without being rushed out the door long enough to figure out how to maximize the excellent tandoori chicken pieces without having to bother with any of the other stuff. This place is tiny, though, so you're probably going to need to plan on taking it with you. I'm not sure they even have tables, actually...

Strange little place with strange greasy food. I think things here have changed over the last couple of years. We tried the lamb and the chicken curry. Both were generous servings, but the lamb tasted like canned tomato paste -- and only canned tomato paste. No curry, little salt, not much else in the way of spice. The coconut chicken curry was pleasantly spicy, and had good coconut flavor. There was plenty of rice, but a serving consisted of about five matchbox-sized chunks of meat, and the abundant and lumpy sauce developed a thick scum of odd orange oil within seconds. We paid $6 and $7 for the two entrées; adding a veggie curry will cost you two bucks more. They both came with a commercially-produced naan-like-object, like the kind you'd find in the freezer section of the grocery store. It was pulled from the plastic bag and reheated briefly on a burner. (The bread may actually have been a pita, as it was quite mealy and split in the center.) Make sure you bring your emergency toothpaste -- both dishes resulted in truly world-class cases of halitosis, which evolved over the course of several hours from 'merely alarming' to 'physically dangerous to bystanders'. The Argentinian cook was pleasant and efficient.

Worth going for a fast lunch if you work downtown, but I wouldn't go out of my way otherwise.

Our new favorite place! We usually order Veggie Combo (include all 4 veggies) with rice and naan. We've tried Thandoori Chicken and Chicken curry (include 1 choice of veggie curry, rice and naan), and both of them are good.

This is the first time I went in there. I order Chicken Curry Combo and Vegi Curry Plate (about $16 for both). The food were yummy. We will definitely go back! Btw, they are open on SUNDAY!!!

Delicious meal with @batwithglasses and other #SLCPL folk. A delicious meal; nothing earth-shattering when it comes to curry, but well worth a taste.

Curry In A Hurry is a nice and small spot for quick lunch. I believe it is owner-operated local shop. I enjoy their different curry combos, especially the ones with lamb and spinach in them. Yum. I've only dined in twice, and the other times I've taken my orders to-go, because the two times I ate inside the restaurant the food smell stayed on my clothing and hair the whole afternoon. :( The owners and staff are friendly and quick, and the food is always hot, fresh and flavorful. A very good lunch spot!

Love this place!!! The chicken curry is my favorite and for a quick fix, it's perfect. I don't give 5 stars due to the rice and pita bread that is served with it. However, l am a fan!

Curry in a Hurry is fast. That is the only good thing about it. The Naan was not naan. The rice was likely Uncle Ben's minute rice. The actual curry and meat was decent. Worst Indian food we have ever eaten and overpriced.

Not the cheapest lunch around but its one of my favorite places to eat lunch. The first time me and my buddy ate there for lunch we both swore we would never eat there again because our eye balls were sweating. The next day we were both craving it again and its been one of our favorites ever since. Warning! If you eat in your car your car will smell like curry for 2-3 days. Its worth it!

They have a very limited menu and a good argument could be made for it not being super authentic (esp with pita bread instead of naan being served). The food however is good with the curry having a decent amount of spice to it for being a fast food type place. Great for when you are having a curry craving but don't want to stop in for a big sit down meal. I have been less then impressed with the veggie options so usually just get the chicken curry meal (rice, curry, pita), but my vegetarian friends get the 3 veggie combo plate and always leave very happy.

I enjoy good food that is quick and easy. Every time I have the craving for curry but don't want to go sit somewhere. I always choose curry in a hurry. I would tell people to try it knowing it not the most incredible curry that you have ever eaten. But it does the job when you don't want to wait at a restaurant. I have tried everyone of the curry's they offer. And I would suggest the lamb curry combo with curry potatoes.

Saw this little joint on my way home, flipped around and stopped in. I told him it was my first time and that I am a meat kinda gal so serve me what he thinks his best. I left with rice covered in lamb and chicken curry, no naan bread but the flatbread was good so I won't complain. Decent price for good food in under 8 minutes!

I just moved here from the Bay Area so I know good authentic indian food when I see it! Curry in a Hurry was disappointing to say the least. Rice was closer to chinese, sauce watery and the naan was from costco... Some kind of packaged flatbread. They seemed offended when we left, barely having touched our plates but it just was not good. Pictures of famous people who have eaten there all over the wall... maybe I just caught them on a bad night but I won't be going back.

Great curry when you don't want to spend a lot and you want it quick. Love it!

No no no. The guy at the register was rude, which is fine if the food is good, but don't act like an ass then insult me with crappy food. The bread was stale, store-bought pita bread. Huge disappointment since as hot naan is my favorite part of an Indian meal. The rice was Uncle Ben's, not the usual basmati. And the rest of the meal was so bland and oily that I didn't even want to finish it. The prices weren't even that great. I hate doing bad reviews but I have to offset some the positive ones that made me think this place might be worth trying.

This is a Mexican restaurant pretending to be Pakistani. They serve their bland curry on soggy short-grain rice. The meat is mealy, the potatoes overcooked and the flatbread is nothing close to naan. The only semi-authentic thing was the chai. Don't go here if you are looking for real Pakistani/Indian food. This is a watered-down Utah version of curry.

I remember the only time I paid a visit to this restaurant was way back when I was a freshmen in high school. Reason I stopped by this restaurant was because my geography teacher gave out a homework assignment requiring us to write a critic review for a restaurant of exotic cuisine. I convinced my mother to come with me and try Curry In A Hurry that was literally down the street from my house. The restaurant is moderately-sized, none of the restaurants on State Street are large in size until you hit downtown, mainly because there's a lot of fast food restaurants around this area. They do have their own private lot in the back for parking, so don't worry about having to park on the street. The food is pretty good, especially since I'm not good at eating spicy food. I don't remember what I ordered since it's been so long since I've ate there, but their staff is really flexible with questions and suggestions. I recommend stopping by if you're looking for a place to order some takeout and especially, if you're on the run. They're pretty quick with your food, but their staff don't really wait on you, so you don't have to feel guilty if you don't leave a tip, although it is optional.

I usually don't eat in places the have "in a hurry" or "to go" in their titles but being new to Salt Lake City and I decided to try it instead of going grocery shopping one night and I do not regret that decision. Yeah it isn't the best Indian food in the world but it hits the spot when you have a craving! I can't wait to go again.

This is not fine cuisine or the best Indian food you have ever eaten. This is a small shack like building that serves steaming hot Indian food to go and plays Bollywood films while you wait. It's so satisfying when you are cold and hungry and want something fast and savory. A perfect winter day in Utah to me is snowboarding all day, then stopping by Curry in a Hurry for a chicken curry plate, which you take back to your house and gorge on before taking a hot shower and a disco nap to head out on the town.

Not bad. The service was good and they were quick. I was back to the hotel in no time. Food was good, could have been a little more spicy for my taste. I'd come back here again. Large portions for the price.

Nothing is open on Sundays in SLC but we managed to find this hole in the wall. Not the best Indian food i have ever had but this place was not bad at all. It definitely filled my curry fix on this holy day. My recommendation for curry is their lamb curry. The meat is very tender and the curry seasoned to perfection. For a quick indian food fix I would recommend.

oh indian food. how i love thee. the name of this place says it all really. no explanation required. the food is good but they didn't have naan which lost them their fifth star. "but wait" you say, "you gave it five stars sean! how can you say that it lost the fifth?" well dear friends, it earned it back! the fact that i can get genuinely good indian food in less than five minutes is worth at least a full star. in conclusion. eat here if your need to be somewhere soon and your close by. its worth it

As my first taste of curry, I hold Curry in a Hurry in high regards. I've only had the chicken curry here and doubt I'd find anything else that I'd love even more. I moved to Seattle in the passed year and have yet to discover a place here that can get my curry cravings satisfied like I do for this place. I am quite sure they have equally great if not more amazing places here but I still long to return to Curry in a Hurry for their cheap and delicious grub. If anyone knows the actual name of the chicken curry dish they serve, I would be extremely thankful if you could pass that information along, it'll help me on my quest here in Seattle.

It's pretty difficult to find decent food joint open on Sundays in SLC. Thanks to Yelp, I found this hole in the wall just few hours before my plane departure after weekend of snowboarding. My Indian food standard is pretty high and this is certainly not the best Indian food I have ever tasted but if you are looking for a quick fix, this is your spot. Try the lamb curry, it will warm your soul.

Winner of the "Best Quick Fix" in Salt Lake magazine's 2004 Dining Awards, Curry in a Hurry doesn't pretend to be a fancy sit down eatery or upscale take-out restaurant. It's a classic hole-in-the-wall eatery or "joint," devoid of any pomp and circumstance. True to its name, curry dishes served fast rule here. Chicken, lamb, etc. The usual standards. You won't find any Happy Meals or funky clown mascots, only Indian-Pakistani specialties prepared in the halaal tradition. Tip: don't bring the kids, unless they have developed a taste for the fast food cuisine of the Far East and actually know what a Vimto is. I always order the chicken curry (and sometimes splurge for an extra scoop), which is accompanied by Basmati rice and a wheel of naan (Indian flatbread) that's cut into fours. You can get a combination plate with vegetables like spinach, chick peas, okra, or potatoes, too. I tried that once and almost had to get a skin graft on the inside of my mouth. Hot and spicy! The kitchen area is minimalist: one stove and a row of heating trays. As you wait in the cramped line inside the miniscule "dining room," you're right there, front row and center, watching one of the Nisar family members prepare your food. In a nod to other reviews, I have to admit that there's sometimes a lack of excitement radiating from behind the counter, but I imagine it's difficult to stay jazzed serving up scoop after scoop of curry for 19 years. It's all quite Seinfeldian in nature and you almost expect someone to snap "No curry for you!" if you order incorrectly. But the lack of animation at the pass is more than compensated for with the free, non-stop entertainment that's playing on the flat-panel screen hung on the far wall (just a few dance steps away). The place is jumpin' with perpetual Bollywood-style music videos that are strange--yet mesmerizing--to those unfamiliar with the genre. About the time that I think I have figured out what the players are singing about, my curry has been packaged in its Styrofoam container and plastic bag and I'm ready to go. Once again, my quest for quick and tasty curry has been satisfied. With great haste I head home, anxious to pop the top on a Vimto ... and partake in my spicy fix.

Well the place is pretty cheap. But the food is not good. I have been to number of quick and cheap indian/pakstani joints, but the food seemed to be not fresh and tasty. I guess as an Indian my standards are little higher i guess. feel free to give a try. i dont think i would give a shot again. Cheers! vish

Tried for the first time today. Not the best I've every had but good enough to eat it all and not feel bad. Great little place for a quick lunch. Not badly priced. Just dont expect five star restaraunt quality food and you willbe good to go.

I love curry, but the curry they gave me was something like catsup with rice, it was the worst curry I ever ate in a restaurant.

  • Harsha R.

What you see is what you get. Ordered a veggie combo. You get to choose 3 out of the 4 side dishes. But I got to substitute my drink with the 4th side. Not sure if this offer always exists. Anyway, the vegetarian dishes were good and spicy. I would have given them one more star had they not given me pita bread in place of naan.

Seriously, people. It's called Curry In A Hurry. If you're expecting top-notch Indian food, I'm not sure what to tell you. The curry is good, nicely spiced and nicely priced. Enough said.

Love this place. Good food, fast service, and nice portions. Great for when you're driving home, and trying to figure out what you might possibly cook for dinner... ahhh, yes, curry! Always good. I can't imagine eating in here, its kinda teeny tiny. Great for take out.

Food was just alright and yes it was inexpensive, but with so many fantastic Indian places in the SLC area I just can't see why anyone would choose this place over the competition.

Great food for a great price, Curry in a Hurry is exactly what it says, and doesn't pretend to be anything else: a quick fix of delicious Halal curry!

  • Rick M.

Not great Indian food but fairly cheap and ready when you walk in. The rice is really plain, which is disappointing. The curry is pretty thin, not what you'd find in a nicer Indian joint. Don't think I'll ever go out of my way to eat here again, but it was ok.

Started my love of Curry at Curry in a Hurry! Tried many other (i.e. more expensive) Indian/Curry restaurants but nothing can compare. My personal fav is the Chicken Curry Combo with Garbanzo Beans. I have hooked everyone in my office too & we all have to have it at least once a week.

Seriously- so good. Family owned, small, and perfect for ordering copious amounts of food for take out and eating at home where you don't have to feel self conscious about having a pile of samosas, naan, and three different entrees in front of you. Or is that just me? Anyways, I eat here often because it is cheap, has lots of vegan options, the food is actually spicy, and the menu changes pretty much daily, and it is always (always!) good. AND they teach cooking classes. But be forewarned- the establishment is on the (very) small side, so be prepared for some close sitting/standing with the other patrons. Take out rules!!!

  • Linda T.

Seriously, curry in a hurry. I got take-out, and whilst there was a long line, my order was done within 5 minutes. It is a small place so you'd have to manuever yourself skillfully. While waiting, you can see them preparing your order, or you can listen to the Indian food/watch the Indian music videos on that flat screen. They make a lame attempt to decorate the place, but you can tell it's from the 90's or some long time ago. Still they tried. Food was flavorful and tasty with hefty portions for the price. I also got the mango drink - soooo good!!
